Stellarium 0.10.5 for Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx

Stellarium 0.10.5 packages for Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid Lynx) are available in Stellarium’s official Launchpad PPA (Personal Package Archive). For now, this is the only way to get Stellarium 0.10.5 on Lucid for people don’t want to compile a source package.

To perform the update, add the PPA to Ubuntu’s software sources and use the Synaptic package manager or the Ubuntu Software Center to install the new packages. Instructions for adding the PPA can be found on its page:
https://launchpad.net/~stellarium/+archive/stellarium-releases
(See the “Adding this PPA to your system” section.)

As on Windows, if you experience any problems running 0.10.5, especially text rendering problems, try opening a terminal and starting Stellarium in this way:

stellarium --safe-mode

This forces Stellarium to use a work-around for the problems it has with some graphics cards.

(Note: at least for me, downloading from the PPA was very slow. I had to cancel and restart a few times to complete the download.)
